Yup that is right, I have twenty-two days left until I drive away from California for three years. It’s amazing how fast the time has flown since that fatefully day in October when I discovered the email telling me about my orders to Scott Air Force Base Illinois. To be honest I’m looking forward to the change in both my job and life in general. Its time for a new start with a new job and of course new adventures. After all life is what we make of it and I intend to make the best of every minute!
The drive to Illinois is going to be long, but in the end it will be great (even with two dogs and three cats). We are stopping to see my father and also some great friends. I’m not sure how often I will get to see my father after I leave, plus we don’t even know for sure as to whether we will be coming back to California. We are looking at Washington state or the Portland, Oregon area and maybe further north in California when it is time for both of us to retire from the military. There are some good jobs in these locations for my chosen career. Now if I could just get the husband to decided on a job after the military I would be doing great.
So as for my health kick, I’m still on it. In fact I’ve more than doubled my running milage this month. I’ve found some great motivation…I’ve entered three obstacle runs for the year. I have two 5K obstacle runs and a third obstacle run that is about ten miles with obstacles. I find the obstacle runs to be less boring as well as a fun challenge. I decided that I need a little additional motivation so I figured if I paid for the runs now then I had no excuse to not go…why?? Because now I will lose the money if I don’t participate in the runs. The two 5K run will not be that bad, its the ten plus mile one that I worried about, but I will finish it somehow! Plus this is all forcing me to eat healthier. I’m also learning to not judge my success entirely by my bathroom scale. I will succeeded this year in getting in shape!!
Anyone got any good fitness or healthy eating tips?? Is anyone else training for anything fun and crazy??
