So its been awhile since my last blog. Things have been crazy for the past six weeks. Six weeks ago the movers packed up my household goods to ship them across the country. About five after my household goods left, I packed up my family to include three cats, two dogs, two frogs, a ferret and multiple guppies (that by the way had babies during the drive) to head to Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. We took the lower route which ran through Texas so that we could visit with family for a few days. Overall it took us about eight days altogether. To be honest, as I look back on that part of the adventure it wasn’t that bad. For the most part the animals all slept during the driving. However, it was fun and entertaining.
We spent a day with my dad in Southern California, then it was off to Texas to hang with the bestie for a few days. It was great seeing my dad. I’m hoping to make it back to California sometime before the end of the year. The bestie is now closer (ok 15 hours by car) but hey at least it not 27 hours any more.
So after some tearful goodbyes we headed to Scott AFB. Thankfully there was a house ready for us to move into the day we arrived. After spending three hours signing paperwork, watching videos, and inspecting the house we finally got to move in. Next we had to wait a week just to get our household goods. And then after getting them we decided we needed to just burn everything. The unpacking was by far the worse ever. Of course it didn’t help that the packing company sucked at their job. As we unpacked things in the house slowly started to come together. Yup we did decide to relieve ourselves of some items. Despite that the house here is bigger, we just had to must stuff.
A few weeks after arriving in the wonderful state of Illinois I had the most wonderful surprise of my life…my best friend from high school found me. I’d been looking for her a while now, but found very little about her whereabouts on the internet. So you can image my shock when, of all places she found me on Pinterest. Of all the places to locate someone…who would have though. Thankfully I was able to find her Facebook page through Pinterest and we have been talking every since. Kate thanks for finding me!! I have missed you all these years!
So overall things are not that bad. Illinois is livable…other than the tornados. The thunderstorms are just beautiful. I’ve slowly been finding things to do. I got lucky and found an archery store with indoor range close by. There is a running path around the subdivision that I live in. Plus I started road biking. Oh and let’s not forget about my Tough Mudder that I entered. The animals have all adjusted well to the new house. And to put the icing on the cake…I found out today that I managed to get promoted to the next rank. If all goes well I’ll pin on in about seven or eight months.
I hope everyone is doing well. Have a safe and wonderful holiday weekend.
Safe journey to everyone!
